P(g2T-T) is polythiophene derivative functionalized with methoxy-terminated triethylene glycol (TEG) chains. Polythiophene backbone allows for chain flexibility, and polar triethylene-glycol side chains for the penetration of hydrated ions.
P(g2T-T) is a high-performance stretchable redox-active semiconducting polymer (RASP) highly desirable for organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs), i.e. bioelectronics. With great stretchability and skin-like softness compatibility, P(g2T-T) has the great potential to achieve seamless tissue–electronics interfaces for accurate signal acquisition in on-skin electrocardiogram (ECG) recording.

With a nonlinear backbone architecture and a moderate side-chain density, P(g2T-T) shows an outstanding stretchability over 200% strain and 5,000 repeated stretching cycles, together with great OECT performance. Indeed, an intrinsically stretchable OECT based on Using this highly stretchable polymer semiconductor demonstrates high normalized transconductance of ~ 223 S cm−1 and biaxial stretchability up to 100% strain.
