Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) Triphenylbenzene Ligand

for the synthesis of ester-linked COFs, hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks, and light emitting macromolecules

Overview | Product Information | Related Products

1,3,5-Tris(4-hydroxyphenyl)benzene (CAS number 15797-52-1) is a triphenylbenzene building block with three hydroxyl substituents. 1,3,5-Tris(4-hydroxyphenyl)benzene is used in the synthesis of ester linkage COFs with di(pyridin-2-yl) terephthalate. Such ester-linked COFs exhibit hcb topology with a surface area up to 2092 m2/g.

1,3,5-Tris(4-hydroxyphenyl)benzene is also applied for the fabrication of hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks through a bottom-up procedure. Density functional theory (DFT) study reveals that the constituting molecules with a planar conformation are linked to each other via H-O hydrogen bonding between hydroxyl groups.

1,3,5-Tris(4-hydroxyphenyl)benzene also finds its application in the synthesis of triphenylbenzene-based carbazoles, photoluminescent macromolecules. The resulting macromolecules exhibit two intense bands at 353 and 369 nm, which can be potentially used in OLEDs.
