The attachment allows the users to hold substrate taut across the surface of the stage without the use of tapes or vacuum holders giving a constant gap height between the substrate and head. By utilising a front clamp connected to the stage and a ratcheting rolling mechanism users can apply tension to the substrate. The roll attachment is suitable for foils up to 100mm in width.
