1,3,5-Tris(4-cyanophenyl)benzene (TCPB) is triangular shaped with three 4-cyanophenyl groups attached to a central benzene at 1,3,5-positions. 1,3,5-Tris(4-cyanophenyl)benzene is a great precursor for synthesising nitrogen rich triazine based COFs as photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions (HERs).
s-Tetrazine-based porous organic polymer TPBTz, an excellent adsorbent for capturing iodine prepared by the polymerization of 1,3,5-tris(4-cyanophenyl)benzene and hydrazine hydrate catalysed by sulfur powder, shows high selective and sensitive sensing of iodine and picric acid in real-time as fluorescent sensor. TPBTz exhibits extremely high sensitivity for iodine with KSV of 1.70 × 105 L mol−1 and the limit of detection of 1.76 × 10–11 mol L−1.
