2',5'-Dimethoxy-[1,1':4',1''-terphenyl]-4,4''-dicarbaldehyde, CAS number 111759-27-4, is a linear ligand linker for covalent organic frameworks with one aldehyde at each end of the linear structure and two methoxy groups sitting on the opposite positions of the middle phenyl ring.

Microporous covalent organic framework (COF), Py-DMTA-COF, synthesized from 4,4′,4′′,4′′′-(pyrene-1,3,6,8-tetrayl)tetraaniline tecton as the nodes and 2,5-dimethoxyterephthalaldehyde as the rigid linear linker, demonstrated great photocatalytic activity with broad substrate applicability and great recyclability for the preparation of thiophosphinates from phosphine oxides and thiols.

COF-JLU25, an electron-rich COF-based photocatalyst constructed by integrating electron-donating building blocks of 1,3,6,8-tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)pyrene (PyTA) and 2',5'-dimethoxy-[1,1':4',1''-terphenyl]-4,4''-dicarbaldehyde, was engaged as a photocatalyst for the oxidative hydroxylation of arylboronic acids. It showed great photocatalytic activity with high efficiency, robust reusability, and low catalyst loading.
