[1,1':4',1''-Terphenyl]-4,4''-diacetonitrile (TPDAN), CAS number 1000559-50-1, is linear ligand linker with a terphenyl core and acetonitrile groups on both ends. [1,1':4',1''-Terphenyl]-4,4''-diacetonitrile is commonly used in the construction of covalent organic frameworks in applications of gas uptake, photocatalytic detoxification, induced electrochemiluminescence and energy storage applications.
Highly crystalline polymer framework sp2c-COF-3 was obtained by the C=C polycondensation of 1,3,6,8-tetrakis(4-formylphenyl)pyrene (TFPPy) as nodes with 2,2’-([1,1’:4’,1”-terphenyl]-4,4”-diyl)diacetonitrile as linker at regular intervals of 2.8 nm into sp2 carbon lattices and eclipsed layer frameworks. The BET surface area was evaluated to be as high as 737 m2 g–1 for sp2c-COF-3.
The introduction of sulfone groups to post-oxidise the highly porous covalent organic framework BTT-TPh-COF which was constructed from BTT-3CHO as the active nodes and 2,2’-([1,1’:4’,1”-terphenyl]-4,4”-diyl)diacetonitrile as the linker, can significantly enhance the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) to the effect of 5-fold for the photocatalytic detoxification of a sulfur mustard simulant.
