4-(1,2,2-Triphenylvinyl)benzaldehyde (TPVBA), CAS number 1289218-74-1, contains a tetraphenylethylene (TPE) core with one aldehyde function group joined at 4-position of one of the phenyl rings.
TPE-CMS luminescent polymeric nanoprobes (LPNs), obtained by mixing 4-(1,2,2-triphenylvinyl) benzaldehyde with carboxyl methyl starch sodium (CMS) and amino phenylboronic acid in a one-pot reaction, showed high water dispersibility, well biocompatibility and efficient cell internalization behaviour.
TPE-QN, a tetraphenylethene (TPE)-functionalized quinolinium salt with hexafluorophosphate (PF6−) as the counterion, exhibited intense red emission in aqueous media. The emission of TPE-QN can be effectively quenched in the presence of I−, For this reason, TPE-QN can be used as a fluorescent sensor for I− with a great low detection limit of 22.6 nM. Moreover, TPE-QN can act as a secondary fluorescent sensor for Hg2+ with a detection limit of 71.8 nM due to the high affinity between Hg2+ and I−.
